Sleeping with Art

Vincent Van Gogh, my bro. You emotionally ridden and beautiful man. The Art Institute of Chicago is bringing him to us, through his bedroom. His ‘bedroom’ will be on display in Chicago, IL from February 14, 2016-May 10, 2016, and this is probably the only time I’m going to be excited about seeing someone’s bedroom when it doesn’t involve s-e-x (lol, amirite?).

Vincent van Gogh’s bedroom in Arles is arguably the most famous chambre in the history of art. It also held special significance for the artist, who created three distinct paintings of this intimate space from 1888 to 1889. This exhibition—presented only at the Art Institute of Chicago—brings together all three versions of The Bedroom for the first time in North America, offering a pioneering and in-depth study of their making and meaning to Van Gogh in his relentless quest for home. Source

What is even more rad is that the Art Institute is taking this painting and making it into a three-dimensional environment. What do I mean? Friggin’ Airbnb, bro. You can LITERALLY rent out Van Gogh’s bedroom for $10 a night. Check it out right here.

This room will make you feel like you’re living in a painting. It’s decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colors, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.
