Sunday Morning Jams

New Jersey has produced some great bands, and one of them includes The Front Bottoms. They are an indie rock/pop punk band from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey that started back in 2007. One of my favorite songs of theirs is Au Revoir (Adios) from the album titled Talon of the Hawk. They are a very energetic band on stage, which I have had first hand experience with since I saw them at a festival a couple summers ago.

Au Revoir (Adios) is a song based around communication issues and breaking up.

The speaker and his girlfriend are having communication issues in their relationship. So bad in fact that they broke up because of it. Even when they say their final goodbyes to one another it’s as of it is in another language. Source

Listening to the commentary of the song through Spotify, he states that he wanted to write a really short song (wanting to make it about a minute in a half long), but they made it a little bit longer in the studio when they added the ‘rock and roll’ part of this song. He wanted to start using different languages in some of his songs, so this song came to be.

Below you can have a listen to this beautifully short song:

  1. Great post, I just posted by review of their Leeds’ show, and the majority of the set was made up of this album. Funny You Should Ask was the high point, I don’t think I’ve seen a crowd get that pumped from just an opening riff in a while. ❤

    1. That’s awesome! I saw them at the Common Ground Festival in Lansing, Michigan a couple years back and it was so fun. Everyone was so energetic that it just felt good being there.
